IGTV Channel for the Cool Guys
While we do have a nice video page here as well as a YouTube channel, we've taken another leap into cyberspace to make it as easy as possible for you and your friends to find our music online. We heard that Instagram is all the rage (in fairness it's pretty easy to use and there's no ads), so we're uploading all of the vids released so far to our new channel - www.instagram.com/the_broken_pokers/channel/ - and there will be new releases over the coming weeks. Get your millennial on!
New Video - 'The Broad Majestic Shannon'
Toby leads off with a lovely song by Shane McGowan of The Pogues. (Editing and direction by Rory Dax Paton).
New Video - 'Follow Me Up to Carlow'
Here's a song written in 1899 by Patrick Joseph McCall to a tune played by the pipers the Second Desmond Rebellion in 1580, starting with a little jig called the Swallowtail. Thanks again to Rory Dax Paton for the edit, more to come!
New Video - 'The Holy Ground'
And we're back! Another ripper edit from The Live at the Rose and Crown Basement videos by director/editor/art supremo Rory Dax Paton. At this point in the shoot we were all very frazzled from a huge day of work, so we let off a bit of steam at the start of this tune, hence the wildman antics. You can see more such mayhem on our video page and keep up to date by subscribing to our YouTube channel. Watch this space for more songs over the coming weeks . Bon appétit!
Ireland Tour August 2019
After braving the chill and wet in December we feel we've earned our Irish road wings, and so we head back to the Isle for some delightful summer shows. See above for the shows booked so far and keep an eye on our calendar for updates. See you in 8 weeks Ireland!

Tales from the east coast, told in Ben's typically obscure manner. Please do indulge him and read on here, and feel free to email info@brokenpokers.com or message us on our Facebook page to offer any commentary, criticism, or alternative pastimes for our in-house biographer.

Irish Music in a Jazz Club on Australia Day?
Broken Pokers Plus Guests?!
Website??!!
Yes that's right, the Pokers have been granted access to the brand new Duke of George at the Brush Factory, East Fremantle, and we're bringing our dear friends Donough (fiddle), Kevin (also fiddle) and Fiona (flute) for an afternoon of traditional song and instrumental music. Don't miss these tremendous players helping out your trusty troubadours, free entry, doors open at 12:00, music from 1:00-3:00pm.
Sundays at JB O'Reillys
The Pokers' first week of their fortnightly residency at JB O'Reillys was an absolute cracker, we can't wait for the next one. JB's always deliver on awesome food and drinks with regularly rotating specials, and a lovely staff to boot. Come on down to 99 Cambridge St, West Leederville for mighty times all round and maybe a wee bit of chaos. Music from 6-9pm
Announcing - Ben's Blog; Ireland 2018
Ben's alter-ego has been toiling away in the catacombs of our press department, cobbling together remnants of eyewitness accounts and hearsay from the Broken Pokers' Irish tour in December 2018. After some robust discussion and numerous concessions to the editor, the resulting rant is now available here at Ben's Blog. In the unlikely event that it is comprehensible to the general population, and no harm comes to the cultural sensibilities of our dear followers, we may permit him to continue in his misguided crusade (if only in the interest of keeping him off the streets). More to come.
The Pokers Newsletter - Issue no.1 OUT NOW
Well, Ben had always wanted to join the ranks of the tabloid hacks, and to his delight he's become the editor of our very own rag - a slippery slope some would say. Regardless of this potential moral decay, we hope you will enjoy hearing news about our travels, travails and triumphs in this new format. Within each issue we will endeavour to keep our subscribers up to date with new gigs, tour dates and anything else with a hint of the newsworthy. While we do post much of what we do here and on Facebook, the newsletter aims to keep you informed of goings on in a more expansive medium. To see our first issue click here, and to have them delivered to your inbox you can subscribe to our mailing list on our contact page. Enjoy!
Announcing - Sundays 2018 at JB O'Reilly's!
As of January 13th the Broken Pokers will be in the legendary JB O'Reilly's in West Leederville every second Sunday. The exact times are yet to be finalized, but it will likely be a sundown/evening slot. JB's is a family run pub with a great atmosphere and has won many awards for food and service (including one by our Derrick Buckley himself, in a former life). As soon as we know the performance time we will post it on our website calendar, which you can find here.
Teaser video no. 2!
To celebrate our last gig at the Albion we put together this little promo, using footage from our forthcoming live video. Enjoy, and watch this space for the main meal.
Ireland Tour Dates
Our trusty agent in Ireland, Ollie Carroll, has given us our dates for our December tour, and he certainly has put us to work - 12 dates over three weeks (possibly more to come) and 1300kms of driving will have us busy, but we'll definitely squeeze in time to catch up with old friends and meet new ones. Here is our media release poster, full details available on our calendar page. Hope to see you there!
